Recommendations for Medical Cannabis
According to the Health and Safety code section 11362.5, "…seriously ill Californians have the right to obtain and use marijuana for medical purposes where that medical use is deemed appropriate and has been recommended by a physician who has determined that the persons health would benefit from the use of marijuana in the treatment of cancer, anorexia, AIDS, chronic pain, spasticity, glaucoma, arthritis, migraine or any other illness for which marijuana provides relief."
How Can I get a doctor's recommendation for medical cannabis?
Obtaining a doctor's recommendation for medical cannabis is a simple procedure: Consult your family physician (California certified Dr.) because he/she knows your medical history best. Your family physician has access to your medical records and can offer a recommendation for medicinal marijuana based on those records in addition to a current assessment of your illness/ailment. All you have to do is ask! If your family physician is uniformed about the benefits of medicinal cannabis, click here to print out informational sheet for him/her or order an issue of O'Shaughnessy's, the Journal of Cannabis in Clinical Practice, to be sent directly to your physician by e-mailing journal@ccrmg.org or calling (415) 305-4758.
What if I do not have a family physician?
